Each year, Fall brings with it some of the best options for creating a quality wardrobe. After taking time to go through your closet and assessing what should be kept, fixed, donated to Dress for Success or tossed, there will likely be gaps that need to be filled, which makes this the ideal time to stock up on quality essentials for your Fall/Winter wardrobe. Here are four items to shop for that were trends on the runway and are certain to last for more than just one season.
Polka Dots
Similar to leopard or navy, a polka dot silk blouse or dress may initially appear trendy but in fact is a creative neutral to have on hand. Think nautical stripes – at first viewed as trendy and casual when introduced by Coco Chanel but are seemingly worn every year as they are stylish and scream timeless. Where to shop: Luxury for Less – J.Crew, Luxury – Stella McCartney
Cropped Pants
With wool and other season-appropriate fabrics, cropped pants allow you to wear loafer pumps, stacked sandals or pointed stilettos and remain stylish, warm and well-suited for Fall as you are able to create multiple looks for day or evening. Where to shop: Luxury for Less – J.Crew, Luxury: Jason Wu
A Little Sparkle
For quite a few seasons, the inclusion of sequins into a woman’s wardrobe for day instead of exclusively for evening has been ubiquitously accepted and applauded. While the color of the sequins should remain classic in tone – black, silver, gold or blush, be sure, they should see daylight as well as the city lights. Where to shop: Luxury for Less – Rachel Zoe, Luxury – Michael Kors
The Trench
Forever a classic, this season the trench is available in rich textures and creative prints and colors. So, while you may already have a trusted go-to khaki trench in your repertoire, consider adding one that reveals a bit more confidence while still remaining true to what works. Luxury for Less: Ellen Tracy, Lauren by Ralph Lauren, Luxury: Burberry Prorsum
